Dr. Qinghua “Candy” Yang, an assistant professor in the Department of Communication Studies, received the 2018 Association of Chinese Communication Studies Early Career Award at the National Communication Association’s convention this month.

This award honors a scholar who is at the early stage of his or her career and has already played an important role in contributing to Chinese Communication Studies.

Yang conducted a series of grant-funded studies to understand China’s air pollution information distributed on new media (i.e., WeChat, Weibo) and how it influences Chinese people’s risk perception and health behaviors. The award was presented during the NCA convention in Salt Lake City, Utah.
